AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Humla — affectionately known to visitors as The Bumblebee — is the signature thrill of Kongeparken, the family amusement park outside Stavanger in Rogaland, Norway. Billed by the park as the country's largest carousel, it hoists riders ten metres into the air and whirls them around and around in a fluttering, weightless spin, a ride the park sums up with a playful 'ticklish-in-the-stomach guarantee.'↗↗↗
The ride sits within Kongeparken's sprawling grounds at Ålgård, a park that packs more than 60 rides, attractions and family experiences into one hillside kingdom. Humla is one of its most recognisable landmarks and a favourite among the kids-and-parents crowd visiting from Stavanger, Sandnes and beyond.↗↗
What makes Humla special
Humla is not an ordinary merry-go-round. It is a Troika — a spinning-carousel design built by the German manufacturer HUSS Park Attractions — and at Kongeparken it holds the title of Norway's largest carousel of its kind. A rotating central arm carries a ring of individual swings outward and upward, so riders fly in wide, dipping circles high above the ground while their gondolas spin independently. The result is that signature floating, stomach-lifting sensation that makes a Troika a crowd favourite.
