This is a fantastic hotel. Well appointed and very clean. Have stayed here a number of times but haven’t eaten in the restaurant until this trip. Wow! The food was amazing. So delicious, beautifully presented and high quality ingredients expertly prepared. Staff were really friendly and efficient. It was perfect. Highly recommended if you want something quality and different from the general offerings of Rotorua.

Unfortunately, this stay was a real disappointment. The accommodation was given to us as a gift, with the understanding that we would be staying in interconnecting rooms. What we actually received were two completely separate rooms positioned side by side, with no internal access between them. Having two rooms next to each other is not the same as having interconnecting rooms, and the setup was far from ideal for a family of five. The only shared area was a small hallway outside the rooms behind a fire door. The area was monitored by security cameras and had a light left on throughout the night, so it could not realistically be treated as a private hallway for our family. At one point, we also returned to find the fire door left open, which made the arrangement feel even less secure and private. To make matters worse, we found a cockroach in one of the rooms. Regardless of the room configuration, finding a cockroach in hotel accommodation is unacceptable and raised serious concerns about cleanliness. What made the experience worse was that, when we checked out, nobody asked how our stay had been or whether everything was okay. There was no opportunity to raise any of these concerns, and the overall service felt impersonal and uninterested. For a hotel presenting itself at this level, we expected much better clarity around room configurations, higher standards of cleanliness, and a stronger focus on customer care.

A Perfect Boutique Stay in Rotorua We stayed at the Regent of Rotorua as part of our New Zealand–Australia tour, and it was an outstanding experience. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-equipped—exactly what you want after a full day of exploring. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, and nearby parks. The area felt very safe, and getting around on foot was effortless. The hotel’s dining room was inviting, and the breakfast selection was particularly impressive. What really stood out was the staff—friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. It’s also a great choice for small tour groups, as the hotel has an intimate feel that makes it seem like you have the place to yourself. Highly recommended.

Large, clean rooms. This is an older property. Rooms are accessed from the outside (not through interior corridors). Excellent service. The restaurant is very nice with great service. The breakfast (a combination of a self-service buffet for coffee, juices and breads, and then a served entree meal) is excellent. Amazing location, just steps from 'Eat Street'.

Such a restful night here - wow, what a comfortable bed! Great rate and everything you need. Thumbs up on the organic eggs!|The staff were super friendly and accomodating - vodka sub for my martini, no problem, even asked which brand I preferred.|I wish I could remember the name of the woman who brought a cheerful vibe to my morning, Paratia? I’m guessing but anyway she was fantastic!|Central location was definitely a plus.

I came to have a high tea with my Mum for her birthday in March. We were welcomed and served by the lovely staff member Lauao, who made us feel very special and well looked after. The space was amazing and so was the food. It was a really good experience and I would definitely recommend and come again. Excellent friendly service !!

Unexpected benefits. This hotel at first glance is a motel from 1960 on steroids. The once shocking surreal decor is now a bit dated, twenty years plus later. But, I want to point out a few items. First and foremost is the food and service in the lobby restaurant. Starting with Piata, the energetic waitress, you know you are in for something special. And you are. Gourmet quality food. The fresh snapper was delicious. Healthy veggies accompanied the main course. The liver pate appetiser was tasty. Believe it or not. Manuka honey pana cotta with sorbet dessert should not be missed. Even the tap water was great. So, you may he surprised and delighted. As we were. And if you crave something more casual, the Thai restaurant close by is good. We came for the sightseeing, but continue to be positively impressed by the high food quality in both Australia and New Zealand.

We had an amazing experience in the restaurant at Regent of Rotorua. As we were a large group we had the restaurant to ourselves. From the time we made the initial enquiry, the booking, the decisions about food and table lay out, until the time we left , the whole evening was faultless. The service was from friendly, helpful and welcoming staff, the food was outstanding and the ambiance perfect. Could not have asked for more.
