AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Piersol Lake is a 32-acre fishing lake set deep within Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park in western Tennessee, about 13 miles northeast of Memphis. It offers anglers a relaxed, forest-ringed setting for largemouth bass, bluegill, and catfish — with unusually liberal catch limits that set it apart from the park's larger Poplar Tree Lake.↗↗↗
The lake also anchors the park's Piersol Group Camp, a lakeside facility that hosts youth groups, family reunions, and organization retreats for up to 140 people from April through October. For day visitors, the appeal is simple: a quieter water tucked into bottomland hardwood forest, just minutes from the metro area.↗↗
