AT A GLANCE
Why go?
The Isett Heritage Museum is one of central Pennsylvania’s most remarkable hidden gems, a sprawling collection of over 40,000 artifacts spread across three buildings on a scenic ridge just east of Huntingdon. Founded by local resident Melvin Isett, who spent a lifetime gathering antiques and memorabilia tied to the community, the museum offers narrated tours, free admission, and a genuinely memorable afternoon for families and history lovers alike.↗↗
Nestled in flower beds and fruit trees with sweeping views of surrounding ridges and mountains, the setting is as impressive as the collection inside. Visitors consistently rate it among their favorite museums — whether they're drawn by antique vehicles, firearms, household relics, or the fascinating local stories woven through every exhibit.↗↗
A Lifetime Collection, Open to All
Melvin Isett (1922–2022) grew up in Huntingdon County and spent decades amassing antiques and memorabilia with a single dream: to open a museum that would share local history with everyone. In 2001, shortly after his retirement, he transformed a barn on his Stone Creek Ridge property into that reality. The collection grew so rapidly that two additional 10,000-square-foot buildings were added in 2004 and 2008, creating three air-conditioned galleries packed with items donated by Mr. Isett himself, his family, and the broader community.
