AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Bowling Green, set in the rolling karst country of southern Kentucky, is the place that gave America its favorite sports car. It is a working-sized college town with a surprising density of things to see and do: a museum devoted entirely to the Corvette, a river that vanishes underground you can actually boat through, state-history galleries, a restored antebellum house, a drag strip with an amusement park attached, and a tidy downtown built around a leafy fountain square.↗↗↗
Most visitors come for one or two signature draws and then discover the rest. The National Corvette Museum anchors a growing automotive district just off Interstate 65, while Lost River Cave offers a genuinely unique underground boat tour a few miles away. Between them lie history museums, racing, baseball, and a university that keeps the restaurants and events lively. The result is a destination that suits car obsessives, families with kids, and curious road-trippers equally well.↗↗
