AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Biloxi Beach is the lively stretch of sand, boardwalk and landmark that anchors the heart of Biloxi, Mississippi, facing the calm Mississippi Sound along Beach Boulevard (U.S. 90). A sandy shoreline, a playground and easy free parking make it a favorite for families, while the 1848 cast-iron Biloxi Lighthouse rising from the median gives the beachfront its unmistakable identity.↗↗
This is a beach you stroll as much as swim—linking piers, seafood spots and a paved boardwalk—with the lighthouse as your compass point and the Biloxi Visitors Center on the sand as your starting place for tours and rentals.↗↗
A beachfront with a story
The Biloxi beachfront runs along Beach Boulevard, where the Gulf of Mexico's Mississippi Sound laps a wide, walkable strand. What sets this stretch apart is its signature landmark: the Biloxi Lighthouse, erected in 1848 as one of the first cast-iron lighthouses in the American South. Authorized by an 1847 act sponsored by a young Mississippi congressman named Jefferson Davis, the 64-foot tower was bolted together from metal plates cast in Baltimore and lined with brick. It became a symbol of the city's resolve when, after Hurricane Katrina's surge wrapped around a third of the structure and smashed its cupola windows, a $400,000 restoration brought it back to public tours in 2010.
