AT A GLANCE
Why go?
İncekum Plaj 2 is a section of the long İncekum public beach on the Mediterranean coast west of Alanya, where the shoreline earns its name—İncekum literally means "fine sand"—from a belt of remarkably soft, pale golden quartz sand. Backed by a protected pine forest Nature Park, the beach offers one of the rare combinations on the Antalya–Alanya corridor where sea and woodland meet in the same step, with water so shallow that you can wade fifty meters out before it rises past your waist.↗↗↗
The beach draws thousands of summer visitors each year, many of them families seeking calm water and a natural setting rather than a resort pool. In August the sea peaks around 29 °C, and the swimmable season stretches from late May well into November.↗↗
What Makes It Special
The defining feature of İncekum is the sand. It is extraordinarily fine and velvety—essentially powdered quartz—which gives the beach a warm golden hue in morning light and a almost flour-soft texture underfoot. Because fine quartz absorbs less heat than coarse grains, the sand surface stays comfortably walkable barefoot even at midday, something many Mediterranean beaches cannot claim.
