AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Lad Koh View Point is a roadside lookout perched on a hill along Route 4169, the ring road that links Chaweng and Lamai on Koh Samui's east coast. It isn't a grand attraction so much as a beautifully placed pause: a shaded pavilion, a low sea wall and a short flight of steps that open onto a wide, unobstructed sweep of Chaweng Bay and the Gulf of Thailand. There is no entrance fee, parking is free, and it is one of the easiest panoramic views to reach anywhere on the island.↗↗↗
Most visitors treat it as a 20- to 30-minute stop on a scooter or taxi circuit between the two beach towns rather than a reason to cross the island. Pull in, look north along the curving coastline, take a few photos and move on. Go with that expectation and it delivers a genuinely lovely glimpse of Samui's resort coast from a little higher and farther away than you get on the sand.↗↗
The view and the two levels
From the upper lookout, right beside the road, the coastline lays itself out: the long pale curve of sand running north toward Chaweng and Chaweng Noi, turquoise shallows fading to a deeper blue offshore, headlands and the open sea filling the frame. On a clear morning the silhouettes of neighboring islands can appear on the horizon, while the tropical hillside behind the platform closes the view on either side.
