Kurasuke Bridge

Kurasuke Bridge (蔵助橋, Kurasuke-bashi) was a small road bridge spanning Kurasuke-sawa, a steep ravine descending from the southern slopes of Mt. Iwaki in the Hyakuzawa district of Hirosaki, Aomori. The bridge stood on the prefectural road linking Hirosaki to Ajigasawa via Dake — a route that follows the centuries-old Hyakuzawa Kaido pilgrimage path to Iwakiyama Shrine. Now permanently closed, it is remembered less as a crossing than as a marker of both faith and catastrophe: this same ravine channel unleashed the worst debris-flow disaster in Aomori's recorded history.
