Hole In The Wall
Hole in the Wall is a gap carved through a wall of coastal rock at Thompson's Bay, tucked along the Dolphin Coast between Ballito and Shaka's Rock. The name comes from that natural archway: pass through it at the right tide and you step onto a handful of small, usually empty beaches that feel a world away from the busy main bay. It is a place for exploring rather than lounging, and it rewards good timing more than long beach hours. Just to the south of Thompson's Bay's large tidal pool, the Hole in the Wall leads down to some of the most secluded stretches of sand on this coast. Locals and returning visitors call it a hidden gem — pretty, photogenic and quieter than central Ballito, with the added draw of a sheltered, lifeguarded pool for a calmer swim on the same visit.
