Daqi Ciling Temple

Daqi Ciling Temple is a neighborhood folk shrine in the historic village of Yanzhou (Salt Islet), in Yongkang District on the southern edge of Tainan City. Built in its current form in 1979 and dedicated to Guangze Zunwang—belovedly known as Sheng Wang Gong, or the Holy King Guo—it carries the quiet, layered character of southern Taiwan's village-level temple culture. The temple's origin story reaches further back than its modest building: it began as a Wanying Gong shrine, the anonymous spirit altar that rural communities across Tainan once erected to honor unidentified wandering souls and propitiate them into local guardians. When villagers invited Guangze Zunwang to take the main altar, the shrine was regularized and named. The name 大崎 (Daqi), preserved in the Google Maps listing, refers to the old hamlet name where the temple stands within Yanzhou Village.
