Wat Pa Ban Siao (Chai Sri)
Wat Pa Ban Siao (Chai Sri) is a forest monastery in the village community of Ban Siao, Nam Phong District, Khon Kaen. It serves as the meditation retreat wing of Wat Chai Sri, one of the most historically significant Pali Buddhist academies in the Isan region. The two temples share abbots and monastic activities, creating a living bridge between the quiet contemplative life of a wat pa and the scholarly tradition of a major centre of Buddhist learning. Set amid the flat rice-plain landscape of north-eastern Thailand, the forest temple maintains the simplicity characteristic of the Thai forest tradition — open grounds, tree-shaded paths, and a monastic community focused on practice and study. During the annual Kathina robe-offering season, villagers gather here for ceremonies that connect the monastery to the wider community's spiritual calendar.
