Big Horseshoe Lake
Big Horseshoe Lake is a small, quiet natural lake in eastern Arkansas, set in the flat, farm-and-levee country of the Mississippi Delta near the town of Beedeville. Far from a resort destination, it draws visitors for one unhurried reason: fishing. Anglers rate it a dependable spot for crappie, the slender silver panfish that thrive in the state's lowland oxbow-style lakes. Roughly 42 acres in size with around 1.9 miles of shoreline, the lake is compact enough to work slowly from a small boat or the bank. Its appeal is its intimacy — a modest sheet of open water ringed by Delta farmland, where a morning or evening visit feels like a private outing rather than a crowded recreation area.
