Vrijbroekpark

On the edge of Mechelen, the Provincial Green Domain Vrijbroekpark is a sprawling, free-to-enter park where manicured gardens melt into wild water meadows. The Province of Antwerp promotes it as 75 hectares of pure relaxation, while visitor guides describe some 50 hectares of lakes, themed gardens and woodland at the city's doorstep—a place to walk, cycle, picnic and simply lose yourself in green. The two things that make Vrijbroekpark stand out from an ordinary city park are its celebrated rose gardens—part of one of Europe's finest rose collections—and the mysterious "ghost hotel," a vast 1970s hotel ruin reclaimed by nature and marked with street art.
