Suğla Gölü Manzara Noktası (scenic view)
Perched on the southern rim of the Suğla Lake basin in Bozkır district, Konya Province, Suğla Gölü Manzara Noktası is an unmarked but rewarding scenic viewpoint overlooking one of Central Anatolia's most remarkable—and enigmatic—wetlands. Lake Suğla, known in antiquity as Trogitis, is a vast karst lake whose water level swings wildly between drought and deluge, transforming the entire basin from shimmering water to golden farmland and back again. The viewpoint captures this drama of landscape at its most expansive. What makes this spot special is its combination of sweeping geological vistas, rich birdlife, and a haunting sense of remoteness. From the elevated terrain above Kuruçay village, the lake basin stretches below like a natural amphitheater framed by distant mountains—sometimes filled with water reflecting the sky, sometimes a patchwork of flooded meadows and receding channels. The area has become a destination for birdwatchers, nature photographers, and those seeking landscapes far from Turkey's well-trodden tourist routes.
