Sarpıncık Deniz Feneri

At the far western finger of the Karaburun Peninsula, where the land runs out and the Aegean opens wide, the white column of Sarpıncık Lighthouse has kept watch over one of Turkey's quietest coastlines since 1938. A short, winding dirt track delivers you to a scene of pure maritime romance: a 12-metre whitewashed tower set in its own little garden, a keeper's house, sculpted rocks falling to a deep-blue sea, and, on a clear day, two Greek islands framed on the horizon at once. This is not a polished museum or a crowded viewpoint but a working sentinel that photographers, trekkers and sunset-chasers have claimed as one of the Aegean's most rewarding detours. The drive itself—roughly 12 kilometres past the harbour village of Sarpıncık, climbing toward the peninsula's lonely tip—is part of the pleasure, trading olive groves and thyme-scented hills for open sea.
