Alppipuisto
Alppipuisto is one of Helsinki's most beloved city parks, a nine-hectare green valley wedged between the main railway line and the Linnanmäki amusement park. With its three-part pond, open-air amphitheatre, 30-metre rocky outcrops, and sweeping lawns, it offers a striking contrast of wild Nordic geology and romantic park design—all just a short tram ride from the city centre. Originally part of a grand 19th-century parkland vision by "the father of Helsinki's parks," Henrik Borgström, Alppipuisto has evolved through fires, renovations, and changing fashions into a park that feels both historically layered and vibrantly alive—home to summer concerts, vinyl records spinning on warm evenings, and cherry blossoms that are the first to colour Helsinki each spring.
