Aberarth beach
Aberarth Beach is a rugged stretch of pebble and shingle on Ceredigion's remote west coast, just over a mile north of the colourful harbour town of Aberaeron. Backed by grasslands and fringed by low clay cliffs, this former fishing and shipbuilding village offers a quiet alternative to Wales's more developed seaside resorts. The Ceredigion Coast Path and Wales Coast Path both pass right by, making it a natural waypoint for walkers who want wild coastal scenery, good surf, and a genuine sense of place. At low tide the beach reveals patches of coarse sand and the stone remains of medieval fish traps once built by Cistercian monks. The village's small harbour and its position beneath soft cliffs give it an understated, unspoilt charm that suits those seeking solitude and a slower pace.
