Villa Atma
Villa Atma is a small, deeply atmospheric museum in Zakopane devoted to Karol Szymanowski (1882–1937), the most celebrated Polish composer after Chopin. Housed in the wooden villa where he actually lived and worked in the early 1930s, it is the only biographical museum in the world dedicated to the man who reshaped Polish music and carried the highlander folklore of Podhale onto the world's concert stages. A visit takes barely an hour, but it packs a punch for anyone drawn to music, literature or the romance of old Zakopane. You walk through reconstructed interwar rooms, see the composer's own study with handwritten scores, and learn how this elegant guesthouse became a salon for some of the biggest names in Polish culture.
