Catedral de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe
The Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe stands as the spiritual anchor and architectural landmark of Mexicali's historic center. Built between 1917 and 1918—almost as old as the city itself—it has watched Mexicali grow from a desert settlement into the capital of Baja California. Its earthy brown facade and simple, luminous interior embody the understated character of a frontier city, while the surrounding pedestrian plaza has been transformed into one of the most vibrant public spaces in the region. As the seat of the Diocese of Mexicali, the cathedral is a working house of worship with daily Mass, and a place where visitors are welcome to slip in for a quiet moment or join a service. It is especially alive on December 12, when thousands of faithful gather to celebrate the Virgin of Guadalupe.
