Mt. Noma
Rising just 591 meters above the Noma Peninsula on Kagoshima's southwestern coast, Mt. Noma (野間岳) is a perfectly conical volcanic peak that has guided sailors for centuries and rewards walkers with sweeping ocean panoramas. Counted among the Three Famous Mountains of the Satsuma Peninsula alongside Kaimon and Kinpō, and selected as one of the 100 Famous Mountains of Kyushu, this compact peak offers a surprisingly rich day out: subtropical forest, a sacred shrine reachable by car, and a summit view that stretches across island chains on clear days.
