Wat Khao Ta Ngok
Wat Khao Ta Ngok is a small, active Buddhist parish temple nestled in the rural Khlong Hat district of Sa Kaeo province, Thailand's far eastern border region. Established in 1998, the temple serves the local farming community of Khlong Kai Thuan subdistrict and sits at the foot of the Khao Ta Ngok limestone ridge—a dramatic karst landscape that has recently drawn admiring visitors from across the country. What makes a stop here memorable isn't the temple complex itself—modest by Thai standards—but its setting: open grassland, a shimmering reservoir, and the towering pale limestone wall of the Ta Ngok range rising like a backdrop straight out of a travel brochure. Locals and photographers call the nearby Khao Ta Ngok Reservoir the "New Zealand of Sa Kaeo."
