Oulunlahti Beach
Oulunlahti Beach (Oulunlahden uimaranta) is a small, free public swimming beach on the Villentie shore in eastern Oulu, where the calm waters of the Oulujoki river mouth blend into the coastal bays of the Gulf of Bothnia. Low-key and local rather than grand, it is one of more than twenty beaches the City of Oulu maintains around the city and a handy spot for a quick summer dip without leaving town. A compact sandy stretch of around 45 metres, simple changing booths, a toilet and free admission make it a no-fuss neighbourhood beach for families and anyone cycling or walking along the river-and-coast path network. Water quality is sampled through the bathing season and posted by the regional environmental authority, with summer readings typically in the pleasant 18–19 °C range when the weather cooperates.
