Wiggins Hill

Wiggins Hill is a quiet, low-key summit in the St. Francois Mountains of southeastern Missouri's Ozarks, sitting at about 1,125 feet (roughly 343 metres) above sea level just a mile or two north of Farmington. It isn't a developed park or lookout with paths and signage; rather, it's a rounded, forested hill named after the Wiggins family of early settlers, the kind of place that appeals to hill-baggers, map enthusiasts and anyone who likes to wander the gently broken ridges of old Missouri. The hill belongs to the Ozark Highlands and, more specifically, the Saint Francois Mountains — a range of weathered, once-high peaks that include Missouri's tallest point at Taum Sauk Mountain. Wiggins Hill is one of the smaller summits in this company: modest in height, with only about 180 feet of local rise, yet it still earns its own place on the Farmington USGS topographic map and on peak lists for the county.
