Jebel Bado (Jbel Badou)
Jebel Bado (Jbel Badou) crowns the high plateau of Aït Hani, a rural commune in Morocco's Tinghir Province on the eastern edge of the High Atlas. Far from the resort crowds, this is a place of big empty mountain light, terraced valleys and panoramic ridgelines, and the official tourism board of Tinghir counts it among the area's signature historic and scenic sites. What draws visitors here is the combination of altitude, geology and quiet: a vast open landscape well suited to trekking, mountain-biking and slow walking among ancient fortified villages, with the Todra and Dadès gorges and the Agoulzi waterfall close at hand. It is a destination for travellers who want the high Atlas at its raw and unhurried, rather than a manicured park with ticket booths and marked boardwalks.
