Akçapınar Yaylası
High in the western Taurus foothills, where Central Anatolia's dry steppe begins to give way to Mediterranean woodland, Akçapınar Yaylası is a cool summer plateau above the Bozkır district of Konya. For generations local families brought their flocks up to these grassy heights to escape the lowland heat; today the same breezy meadows and shady pine slopes have become one of the region's quietly growing draws for nature-lovers seeking fresh air, long walks and a night under the stars. What makes the place special is its setting on an ecological frontier. The plateau and its surrounding grove shelter an unusually old relict forest of black pine, among the most northerly fingers of Mediterranean juniper-and-pine woodland pushing toward the Anatolian steppe, with the high Taurus ridges only a short flight south. Add a small, seasonal mountain village that swells in summer with returning families, and you get a recreation spot that feels authentic rather than built-up: a grassy yayla to wander, picnic, and camp, ringed by ancient trees and open views.
