AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Hanuman Mandir stands at the heart of Daresi Ground — Ludhiana's oldest Ram Leela venue — a devotional site whose traditions stretch back centuries. The temple is open around the clock, managed by the Shri Ram Leela Committee, and rises in spiritual activity every autumn when the Dussehra Mela transforms the surrounding maidan into one of Punjab's great festivals of faith and spectacle.↗↗↗
Visitors come to worship Hanuman beneath the tallest Hanuman statue in Ludhiana, join the Tuesday and Saturday langar, and witness a living Ramayana tradition that even burns Ravana's effigy on the correct day in the story rather than all at once.↗↗↗
A Temple at the Crossroads of Faith and Tradition
Hanuman Mandir sits on the Ram Leela Maidan at Daresi Ground in the old Dal Bazar quarter of Ludhiana, a location described in local media as ancient. The temple falls under the Shri Ram Leela and Dussehra Committee, whose official registration dates to 1961 but whose fair predates that document by generations. This is the same maidan where Ludhiana's oldest Ram Leela — a dramatic re-enactment of the Ramayana — has been staged for hundreds of years, making the temple not merely a place of worship but a living anchor of a community tradition.
