AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Tucked into a green pocket of Kendari's Poasia district, Nanga-Nanga Waterfall (Air Terjun Nanga-Nanga) is the city's favorite answer to a hot afternoon. Cool, clear water spills a modest five to six metres over dark brown-and-black boulders, framed by tall, leafy trees that catch the sunlight along the trail — an easy and photogenic natural escape that sits only about 20 to 30 minutes from the urban center.↗↗↗↗
Getting there is half the adventure. You drive up a rough dirt, sand and rock track, park a short way out, then walk several hundred metres alongside the Nanga-Nanga River — past a small dam and upstream toward the rising roar of the falls — before the jungle opens onto the cascade. The site is open daily to the public and entry is essentially free, making it a relaxed outing for families, friends and kids rather than a formal ticketed attraction.↗↗
