Memorial Museum-Estate of Potter Vasyl Omelianenko
Tucked into Opishnia—the storied "capital of Ukrainian pottery" in Poltava Oblast—the Memorial Museum-Estate of Potter Vasyl Omelianenko invites you into the actual house and yard of one of the nation's most beloved clay artists. Opened on 3 August 2025 to mark the centenary of the master's birth, the estate is a branch of the National Museum-Reserve of Ukrainian Pottery and preserves the homestead exactly as the self-taught potter lived and worked in it. Here everything speaks of the man: the house, the courtyard, the trees, the kiln he built with his own hands. The experience pairs an intimate memorial home with a surprising open-air gallery of monumental modern clay sculptures, so tradition and contemporary art meet on the same patch of ground—all in the language of clay.
