ศาลเจ้าไต้ฮงกง
Tai Hong Kong Shrine (ศาลเจ้าไต้ฮงกง) sits in the small Gulf-coast town of Don Sak, the ferry gateway in Surat Thani to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Like many Thai-Chinese shrines it is both a place of worship and a charitable foundation, dedicated to Luang Pu Tai Hong Kong — a Song-dynasty monk remembered for caring for the poor and the unclaimed dead — and it comes alive each year as the spiritual heart of the town's Vegetarian Festival. You would not visit for grand architecture but for lived faith: processions in white, altars heavy with meat-free offerings, and the dramatic fire rituals of the jay festival, all in a community setting where island-bound travellers can stop en route to the ferry. It is a rewarding detour for anyone drawn to the Thai-Chinese devotional culture of the southern Gulf coast.
