Lund University Historical Museum
Tucked behind Lund Cathedral at Krafts torg, the Historical Museum at Lund University (Historiska museet) is southern Sweden's biggest home for archaeological finds, coins and medieval church art. Spread over four floors of an elegant 1907 building, it brings together prehistoric treasure, antique sculpture, a zoological gallery and centuries-old curiosities under one roof—an easy and absorbing stop in the heart of Lund's old town. The star of the collection is Barbaricum, an exhibition built around the sensational finds from Uppåkra, the largest and wealthiest Iron Age settlement in the Nordic countries. Alongside it you can wander through Stone and Bronze Age halls, a coin cabinet holding the largest medieval hoard in the region, golden and silver objects rescued from Scanian churches, and the grand Hall of Antiques on the top floor. Admission is modest, children under 18 go free, and a museum-wide treasure hunt keeps younger visitors engaged.
