Forestier du Ginzebierg
The Ginzebierg Forest — labelled on maps as Forestier du Ginzebierg — is a leafy walking country on the wooded hillside and plateau just east of Dudelange, in Luxembourg's southern Minett region. Its name tells you what to expect: 'bierg' means hill, and the ridge opens onto broad, high views over the industrial basin below, even though the waymarking keeps you almost entirely beneath the canopy. For locals and passing walkers this is a gentle, reliable escape into nature — a network of well-trodden forest tracks that suits a two-hour summer stroll as readily as a longer loop on a Sunday. The official self-guided route Dudelange-Ginzebierg runs 7.7 km from the forest car park and back, while dedicated hiking platforms log longer loops of around 10 km for those who want to stretch their legs. The hill's most conspicuous neighbour is the tall Dudelange radio and television transmitter, a landmark you can see from far off. It is a useful fixed point for bearing, but reviewers are blunt that trekking right up to the mast adds little; the real pleasure of the Ginzebierg is the quiet, shaded forest between the clearings.
