Naminoue Beach (Wakasa Side)
The Wakasa side is the laid-back half of Naminoue Beach, the only swimming beach inside Naha city. Tucked under the cliff-top shrine of Naminouegu and just ten to fifteen minutes from Naha Airport, it is where locals slip in for a morning swim, a shaded picnic on the grass and a postcard view of red pillars against open blue sea. Unlike the livelier Tsuji side with its beach-sports courts, this Wakasa-side park is a relaxed strip of sand and lawn: swimming, snorkelling and scuba off the beach, beach-barbecue zones, and easy access to the sacred shrine above. Changing rooms, coin lockers, coin showers and staffed lifeguards make it effortless to dive in on a whim.
