Karkeinen
Karkeinen is a small, peaceful forest lake in Keuruu, in the lake-rich heart of Central Finland. Roughly 88 hectares in area and about 3.3 kilometres long, it stretches in a narrow, low shape between wooded shores, with just two small islands resting on its surface. There are no crowds or big attractions here—instead, Karkeinen offers the quiet, water-and-forest calm that defines the Finnish lakeland. The lake sits in the Kokemäenjoki river basin, its waters draining through a short outlet, the Karkeispuro, toward the vast Keurusselkä, the great lake that gives Keuruu its name. It lies close to the old lakeside village of Häkkiskylä, only a short drive from Keuruu's town centre, making it an easy escape into nature without leaving the area's amenities behind.
