Dunas Siriú Garopaba
The Siriú Dunes are Garopaba's most extraordinary natural landmark — a vast stretch of pale sand rising up to 40 meters from the coast, creating a desert-meets-ocean landscape unlike anywhere else in southern Brazil. Located within the Serra do Tabuleiro State Park on Santa Catarina's south coast, the dunes stretch roughly five kilometers along Praia do Siriú and draw visitors for sandboarding, panoramic ocean views, and the seasonal lagoons that earn the site its nickname, "Lençóis Catarinenses" (the Catarinense Beds). Whether you come to slide down the sand on a rented board, chase the late-afternoon golden light across the ridgelines, or spot southern right whales from the summit between July and November, the dunes deliver a vivid, compact adventure — only about 7 km from Garopaba's center and reachable directly from the roadside with no long trek required.
