We had such an amazing stay at Cape Byron Retreat for my boyfriend’s birthday. As backpackers travelling around Australia, this was exactly what we needed, a peaceful and comfortable little escape. Everything was perfect: the bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was spotless, the jacuzzi was amazing, and the view was beautiful. We also really appreciated the privacy and how welcoming and friendly the customer service was throughout our stay. You can really feel the care and attention put into this place. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed. Thank you so much for such a special experience, we would absolutely recommend it!

This was a lovely tranquil place away from the hustle and bustle of Byron Bay. We stayed in Villa 1 which was lovely and secluded. The villa was comfortable and clean. The grounds of the retreat are spacious with views around the local countryside. The swimming pool, although small was good for a dip. You do need a car to stay here. Food can be ordered 24 hours in advance, but we chose to have breakfast in Bangalow about 15-20 minutes drive away. We self catered in the evenings, buying food from local Aldi and Woolworths. There is a kitchen but the area closes at 4pm. The staff here were friendly and helpful.

I had a very disappointing experience with Cape Byron Retreat. I booked this property through Booking.com well in advance, and my reservation was fully confirmed. However, four days after making the reservation, I unexpectedly received a message through the Booking.com messaging system stating only that my reservation had been cancelled because the room was unavailable. The message contained no apology or explanation, and simply instructed me to cancel the reservation myself. It also stated that the hotel had tried to contact me by phone, but I never received any phone call, voicemail, email, or any other form of communication from the property. Despite this message, our Booking.com reservation still showed as active, so we travelled to the property to clarify the situation in person. When we arrived, we were informed that our room was unavailable due to the hotel’s own overbooking. This was entirely the hotel’s mistake, not ours. Although the hotel arranged replacement accommodation, it was at a different property, which caused significant inconvenience and completely disrupted the start of our trip. We also had to pay additional Uber fares because we were forced to travel from Cape Byron Retreat to the replacement hotel. When I contacted Booking.com, they explained that because the replacement accommodation had been arranged directly by the hotel and we accepted it, any compensation would need to be discussed directly with Cape Byron Retreat. I then contacted the hotel to request reimbursement for the additional transportation costs that were incurred solely because of the overbooking. Unfortunately, I was repeatedly told that “our responsibility is only to arrange another hotel,” and that they would not reimburse any transportation costs. When I tried to continue the discussion, the staff ignored what I was saying, pretended they could not hear me, and abruptly ended the phone call. I also sent a written message requesting reimbursement, but have received no response. What disappointed me most was not only the overbooking itself, but the way the situation was handled afterwards. Mistakes can happen, but taking responsibility, communicating respectfully, and making a genuine effort to resolve the inconvenience caused to guests are just as important. Unfortunately, I did not experience that here. We were genuinely looking forward to staying at Cape Byron Retreat, and that is what makes this experience even more disappointing. What should have been the start of an enjoyable trip turned into a stressful and upsetting experience because of circumstances entirely beyond our control. I sincerely hope the management will improve both their reservation management system and their customer service, and above all, that no future guests will have to go through the same disappointment and inconvenience that we experienced.

Beautiful location, however there is a construction site right next door so if you are staying during the week we wouldn’t recommend it at all. Villa was lovely, although they seemed to have skimped on small luxury’s like extra towels, tea bags, wifi (We had 2 tea bags for a 3 night stay, The wifi didn’t work at all). They tried to fix wifi but nothing changed. The TV didn’t work. Check in without reception was difficult. Parking didn’t match email arrival instructions. Overall an expensive and over priced stay for the level of service. Beautiful location, but very disappointing.

This week we took a 4 day trip to Byron Bay from Monday to Thursday. We stayed at the Cape Byron Retreat. Even though from all the photos it seems like it is out of town it was really close. About 5 minutes drive and you were in the heart of Byron Bay. We had made plans to take walks through near bye rain forrest to discover waterfalls etc, but upon arrival were overcome by the peace and serenity of the retreat. We settled in for a chill 4 days. Made great use of the pool, hot tubs and BBQ area. While you could order a breakfast box from the retreat we decided to self cater. We made a trip to the Woolworths store near bye and were set for most meals. We did go the Mez Club in Byron Bay one evening for dinner and it was very good. Being an Adults Only retreat it was quiet and peaceful and you could completely relax by the pool. Service provided by Marcella was fantastic. The rooms were well appointed and everything was clean and tidy. If you are looking for somewhere to chill in a country setting but still only 5 minutes from everything in Byron Bay, this is the place to stay!

The most beautiful, peaceful & relaxing retreat. Only 6 minutes to the main centre it is the perfect sanctuary away for rejuvenation, stillness and quiet. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. Right from our arrival Marcella was kind and welcoming. If we needed anything she was always there ready to help. Even the grounds keeper was lovely and gave us great recommendations on where to eat. The grounds are so beautiful. We loved the 2 huts to relax and read, the main quarters are available for guests to use which was perfect to enjoy the sunset whilst reading. The pool was nice and fresh!! Perfect after lying in the hot sun. I can not fault this place. From the beautifully set up rooms, the facilities and the incredibly helpful staff I would highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back early next year. Kindly, Manuao and Semi.

We stayed here for 5 nights... a luxurious experience. The rooms were clean and beds very comfortable, waking up to the chorus of bird sounds each morning was magical, and sharing the grounds with the resident peacocks. The staff are very laid back and accommodating in a non-intrusive way. The pool was great, and the spas overlooking the hinterlands were an incredible way to finish off the day (we went in the cooler months), also beautiful at night under the stars. Would highly recommend staying here. we will definitely be back. thank you for a memorable experience.

What a hidden little gem! My husband and I travelled from QLD for our anniversary and arrived late, we had a simple check-in process with collecting the key. Checking out was just as simple. We loved our room and the bed was amazing. Unfortunately my husband was sick with a tummy bug on our 2nd day so we missed out on 24 hours of food and exploring but we still had an amazing time and the bed was comfortable for him to rest and get better. I loved the crystals all through the property and the outdoor spas were great to enjoy the sunset over the mountains. We enjoyed the extra little services like making the bed and changing the towels. Overall the property and room was clean, well maintained and beautiful. It was so peaceful and quiet and the location was great. We recommend this place to anyone looking for a lovely few days away.
